1969 Topps Football Four-in-One

Thru the late 1960's, early 1970's, Topps continued to try new
things as test issues and inserts. 1969 was no different and
along came the 1969 Topps Football Four-in-Ones. Each card was a
perforated panel of (4) mini-cards. Special mini-card albums were
also issued as inserts to hold the mini-cards. Each album had room
for a complete team set of (10) mini-cards.

There was one variation in which print color and background on
Bill Triplett's and Charlie Johnson's mini-cards varied.
Interestingly, a few of the players on these mini-cards never
appeared on their own regular card .

1993 Topps Inaugural Colorado Rockies Set
In 1993 Topps produced a limited number of special factory sets to honor the
Colorado Rockies first season. A special gold foil Rockies logo was added
to each card.
The initial print run of 5,000 ran out quickly so the Rockies had 5,000 more
sets made. Cards were only available as factory sets so singles and team sets
are a bit tougher to find.

1966 Topps Rub-Offs COMPLETE MASTER STRIP
20 different Rub-Offs with Sandy Koufax and 4 other Hall-of-Famers !
|
|
From the days when inserts were neat !!!
1966 Topps Rub-Offs have colorful, attractive pictures, which
by rubbing the reverse side with a coin (quarters worked best),
could be applied to surfaces like desks, books or walls.
A great items for kids - a nightmare for parents and teachers !!!
In 1961 Topps issued a similar item called "Magic Rub-Offs".
There were 36 different in that set. Topps went way much further with
their 1966 issue containing 120 different rub-offs (100 players & 20 team pennants).
The rub-offs were released as inserts with one in each 1966 Topps wax pack.
Each rub-off measures 2-1/6 inch by 3 inch and were printed in rolls
with each roll containing numerous groups of 20 different.
A favorite use of the rub-offs for kids was to place one of the images on your
bat. It was supposed to help you hit like the player. I tried it and it worked !
Unfortunately the image I used was Sandy Koufax who ended up batting
.076 with no home runs in 1966.
