1956 Topps DAVY CROCKETT
*** The Ballad of Davy Crockett ***
Born on a mountain top in Tennessee
Greenest state in the land of the free
Raised in the woods so he knew every tree
Kilt him a b'ar when he was only three
Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the wild frontier
Fought single-handed through the Indian war
'Til the creeks was whipped an' peace was in store
An' while he was handlin' this risky chore
Made himself a legend for evermore
Davy, Davy Crockett, the man who don't know fear
He went off to Congress an' served a spell
Fixin' up the Government an' laws as well
Took over Washington so I heard tell
An' patched up the crack in the Liberty Bell
Davy, Davy Crockett, seein' his duty clear
When he come home his politicking was done
Why the western march had just begun
So he packed his gear an' his trusty gun
An' lit out a-grinnin' to follow the sun
Davy, Davy Crockett, leadin' the pioneer

1941-1942 War Gum (R164)
The 1941 War Gum set of (132) 2-1/2" x 3-1/8" cards were issued
Gum Inc. picturing war events, generals and heroes.
It began in 1941 and continued into 1942.
The cards were quite similar to Gum Inc.'s Horrors of War set,
but with tamer images and more focus on the bravery of the allied
forces. Horrors of War seemed to focus more on the atrocities of
our enemies.
The backs reminded you to "Buy War Bonds and Stamps for VICTORY."
Sadly, this was the last great bubble gum card set issued in the
U.S. before the war effort cut off supplies of essential materials.
