Q4: How do I keep my cards in top condition ?

A: There is a wide variety of storage supplies available to help you keep your cardsin the best condition possible. They range from hard thick acrylic screw-down holders to "penny" soft sleeves for individual cards to cardboard boxes that can hold from 100 cards upto "monster boxes" that hold more than 5,000 sportscards.

We have a large selection available on our web site with quantities from 1 to 1,000.

1948-1949 Leaf Baseball

The 1948 Leaf Baseball set consists of (98) 2-3/8" by 2-7/8" cards. Jam packed with SuperStars - the key cards are Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Jackie Robinson, Ted Williams, Stan Musial, Satchel Paige, Honus Wagner & Warren Spahn !!!

There are only 98 cards in the set but the card numbers ran from 1 thru 168 It may have been an attempt to force collectors to keep opening packs looking for the missing cards. Forty-nine of the cards are considered "Short Prints" There is also a variation card: the Full Sleeve (standard) and Short Sleeve (error) versions of #136 Cliff Aberson. 1969 CITGO Coins

1969 Citgo Coin banner
In 1969, to commemorate Baseball's 100th Anniversary, CITGO released their "Famous Baseball Player Coin Collection" of 20 brass coated metal coins. On the front, the coins featured the player's name and a raised image of his head. The back displayed a banner honoring baseball's s 100th Anniversary. The coins are approx. 1" in diameter and are very susceptible to tarnishing due to oxidation.

Customers received a single coin in it's sealed pack free with a fill-up and could pay 25 cents for additional coins. The 20 coin set could be inserted into a cardboard backing for display. On the back of the display was a short bio with stats of each player. Click to view an image of the cardboard backing and some more sample coins:

Vintage Baseball Card Auction terminology

Register: You give us your name, address and email so we can contact you after the auction with your winning bids.
2 Types of Bidding: There are 2 ways to bid in the auction.
/ auction bids - you simply click on YES button to make the next bid.
auction bids - you enter the MAXIMUM you would bid on this item. If you are outbid in the auction, the auction software will make the next bid as long as it is less than or equal to the auction MAXBID you enter.
Minimum or Starting bid: On expensive auction items, there is no point in auction bids starting at .25 and going up by .25 taking perhaps 100 such bids to reach even 10% of value. Thus some items in auctions have a "Minimum" or "Starting Bid".
Reserve bid: "Reserve" auction bids come into play once an auction is over. If the final "Hammer" price is less than the "Reserve" bid then there is no sale. I do not find this type of auction bidding very bidder friendly.
