Protecting and Storing your Baseball and Football Card Collection (T7) There are many different ways to protect, organize and store your sportscards. Soft Sleeves The most basic protector for cards are "soft sleeves" which are often called "penny sleeves". A "soft sleeve" is a thin plastic pouch into which the card can be placed protecting it from scratching and having the gloss rubbed off. Soft sleeves are very inexpensive. They come in packs of 100 with prices as low as around 3 soft sleeves for a penny. Top Loads Top-loads are rigid plastic holders that also provides protection against bending and creasing. They are called top-loads because they have a thin opening at the top allowing you to insert the card. They come in a large variety of sizes from 3-1/2 by 4-1/2 for the normal recent issues upto 8-1/2 x 11 for magazines and even larger. There are also thicker ones perfect for the thick game-used memporabilia cards. We highly recommend putting the card in a soft sleeve first to prtoect it from scratching and moving around before putting it in the top-load. Screw-Down Acrylic Holders These are appropriate for your better, more expensive cards. As the name implies, small screws hold two pieces of acrylic together. They come in a variety of thickness upto 1 or 2 inch acrylic slabs that not only protect the card but can funciton as a paper weight. A type of screw-down called single-screws are the most popular. They are named for the fact that they only use 1 screw to open or close the holder. This makes them easier and quicker to use while providing the same type of protection. They are also much less expensive costing as little as .39 each in quantity. while the thicker 1 inch or 2 inch acrylic screw-downs can cost upto several dollars each.

1963 Topps Stickers Another of the interesting Topps Issues of the 1960's ! Topps inserted these Stick-Ons (stickers) in several of series of their 1963 Topps baseball cards. Interestingly, the Stick-On inserts were not mentioned or advertised on wax pack wrappers in 1963. The complete 1963 Topps Stick-Ons set is packed with HALL-OF-FAMERS and contains 46 stickers measuring 1-1/4" x 2-3/4". The Stick-Ons come in 2 distinct variations. They can be found either with blank-backs or the scarcer variation with instructions printed on the back. The Stick-Ons have with an approx. 3/16" "white" band running left to right across the mug shot. This band appears to be lighter than the printing above and below it. Theory is that it is an aging effect caused by the backing strip. 1977 Topps CLOTH STICKERS One of the few Topps specialty issues of the late 1970's, the set contained 55 cloth stickers of the top players of 1977 along with 18 puzzle cards which joined together to form photos of the 1976 American League or 1976 National League All-Star teams. Very attractive visually, these cloth stickers/cards were a separate Topps test issue and sold in their own packs. Each pack contained 2 stickers and 1 checklist puzzle piece. According to S.C.D., player photos on the front are identical to their 1977 regular cards but the backs are different. The regulation card size 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" stickers have a paper backing which lists the player's career highlights and could easily be removed to allow the cloth to be adhered to a jacket, notebook, etc. TOP STARS: Pete Rose, Nolan Ryan, George Brett, Reggie Jackson, Mike Schmidt, Steve Carlton, Carl Yastrzemski, Johnny Bench, Robin Yount, Lou Brock & more! The 1977 Topps Cloth Stickers set also has a scarcer Mark Fidrych ROOKIE card !!!
